"Feedback is a gift." - former manager, when offering (but not when receiving) feedback.
"Thank goodness it comes with a Gift Receipt!" - former client, as we were discussing the idea of feedback being a gift.
Every one of us has blindspots.
Every one of us presents things to the world that we don't see.
And - we see those things in others. Their blindspots and opportunities.
We all believe we're above average - we see when others fall short.
We all know we can benefit from the insights that others hold. Even when we don't really want to hear the words describing our blindspots, opportunities, or when we're not as "above average" (managers, you can replace that with "exceeds expectations") as we'd like to think.
That is, after all, the heart of receiving feedback.
And we're often in a position to provide feedback to others - as a manager, a mentor, a loved one - sometimes the only person able to do so in a way in which the recipient won't demand that feedback gift receipt.
Whether you're looking to receive -or- deliver feedback better, this Exploration is for you!
You'll leave with actionable insights both to deliver and to process feedback to support your growth as a manager, a mentor, a loved one, a human.
🧐 What's an Exploration?
A Multiply Your Impact Exploration is an intense look at something in the professional or personal world that deserves a little more attention than we typically give it.
🤓 About The Facilitator
David Sherrod has been facilitating conversations around important business and life topics for many years, including in this format. Guiding groups through discussion topics, questions, and co-creating an experience and learning is a skill he has refined over several years as a Professional Certified Coach and an Instructor at CoachVille Center for Coaching Mastery.
🖥️ Why Zoom?
For nearly 3 years these Explorations (formerly called Deep Dives) were held in an audio-only format. Over many years I've learned it's quite possible to create and sustain warm, engaging relationships without staring through a screen, or ever meeting in person. But sometimes it's a little easier to relate to someone when we can see them. So even though we'll be on Zoom, and my video will be ON, you can leave your video OFF if you'd like, and take a break from the monitors... grab some food (no-one will see you eat) and let's share, and really listen, to one another. It's a game-changing experience. Even on Zoom.
